Ready to Answer the Call
Volunteerism is the practice of freely giving your time, skills, or services to help others or support a cause without expecting financial compensation.
Recently, C.A.R.E. looked back to the town's roots. In 1774, Leicester resident Colonel William Henshaw coined the term “Minutemen," calling on citizens to be “ready to march upon a minute’s notice.”
Today, CARE Leicester is continuing that same spirit of service, commitment, and readiness to help build a community where people use their time and talents to make a real difference in our community, while experiencing the satisfaction that comes from helping others.
To make our mission become a reality, C.A.R.E. Leicester is creating a network of dedicated volunteers who are ready to step up when needed and help turn community goals into meaningful action. Civic Engagement
Civic engagement extends beyond volunteerism. While volunteering is an important way to contribute, civic engagement encompasses a broader range of activities that strengthen communities and shape public life. These activities may include voting, attending public meetings, advocating for community needs, serving on boards and committees, participating in local organizations, and working collaboratively to address public challenges.
Volunteerism often serves as a gateway to broader civic engagement by helping people become invested in their communities and motivated to participate in solving public problems. By participating in community life and contributing their ideas, skills, and perspectives, residents help shape Leicester's future.
C.A.R.E. Leicester encourages all residents to embrace civic engagement by serving, connecting, participating, and leading. Together, these actions help build a stronger, more inclusive, and more vibrant Leicester for everyone.
