What does this have to do with C.A.R.E.?
The bandstand on the Town Common was built in 1991. Over the years, it became weathered and in need of maintenance. Len and Judy applied for an ARPA Community Grant, a program that was initiated by C.A.R.E. Leicester. After winning an award, Judy and Len oversaw a massive project to repair the roof, install high-quality shingles, paint the ceiling, soffits, and wrought iron railings, clean the columns, fix the damaged masonry at the foot of each set of steps, and improve the electric wiring and lighting. Now the bandstand looks brand new!
To honor Judy and Len for their hard work, dedication, and many years of service to Leicester, the C.A.R.E. Group designed and purchased a plaque, which was installed on the wall of the bandstand. This recognition reflects not only their contributions to the bandstand project but also their longstanding commitment to the community.
